Custom Box Service stocks the most common grades of corrugated cardboard.
For larger orders, we can obtain sheets cut to size so that there is
no waste ("trim"), thus reducing the cost of the box. Also, for larger
orders we can obtain grades of board not listed below. However, our
machinery is not capable of handling material heavier than 275# single-wall
or 350# double-wall.
The table below presents the grades of material that we stock. The list
indicates both the
Mullen
Test and the Edge Crush Test values of the board, as well as the actual
board combination that we order from our suppliers. We almost always
use Mullen instead of ECT — Mullen is higher quality board. It may
cost a little more, but it's worth it. This is more information
than most people need, but we provide it for those that want to know.
if you require more information.

| 200# (32 ECT) Single-wall [42-26-42] |
275# (48 ECT) Double-Wall [42-26-26-26-42] |
Just as most people consider an RSC to be a "standard box", they consider
200# single-wall to be "standard material". We carry four different
types of 200# single-wall material:
- 200# C-flute natural kraft
- 200# C-flute white one side
- 200# B-flute natural kraft
- 200# B-flute white one side
Because we use more 200# single-wall than any other type of material, we
receive special pricing on it from our suppliers. As a result, it is frequently
less expensive for us to manufacture a box from 200# single-wall than to manufacture
a box from a lighter grade of material.
|
Many boxes require additional protection to that which single-wall can provide.
In these instances, double-wall corrugated provides an ideal solution. Double-wall
material features two layers of corrugated medium, producing a "double decker
sandwich" effect. With 275# double-wall material, a box is afforded increased
stacking strength. Both 275# double-wall and 275# single-wall have similar
puncture resistance. We carry two types of 275# double-wall material:
- 275# DW natural kraft
- 275# DW white one side
This material is typically used for shipping heavy loads and for shipping
items with sharp edges.

| 275# (44 ECT) Single-wall [69-26-69] |
350# (51 ECT) Double-Wall [42-26-42-26-42] |
|
For some applications 200# single-wall is too light to adequately protect
the items being shipped. In these cases, if a double-wall material is not
required, 275# single-wall is generally of sufficient strength to protect
the contents of the box. Because the liners are made with a heavier 69# paper,
275# single-wall provides additional stacking strength and increased puncture
resistance when compared with 200# single-wall. We only carry one grade of 275# single-wall:
275# C-flute natural kraft. We do not stock 275# single-wall white
one-side, though we can order if we receive an order with sufficient square-footage.
|
Does your shipping application require a material stronger than 275# single-wall
or 275# double-wall? For maximum strength and even better puncture resistance,
consider 350# double-wall material. This material is used for the heaviest loads
and the most demanding shipping conditions. We only stock one grade of 350# double-wall:
350# DW natural kraft. As with 275# single-wall, we can order this
material in white one-side if the order requires it.
|
Remember that we can supply other grades of board than those listed.
We occasionally have 200# E-flute, 125# B-flute, and other assorted grades
of material in stock (as demand dictates).
